Getting started

- Open a Canvas lesson — the sidebar appears on the right
1 Your Canvas site
The extension only runs on the Canvas addresses you add here. Chrome will ask you to allow access to each one.
Tip: copy the address from your browser while you're on Canvas — everything before /courses.

After adding a site, reload any Canvas tabs that were already open. You can also click the extension's toolbar button on any page to open the sidebar once.
Embedded lesson viewers
Some courses show lessons inside an embedded viewer from another site (for example a CertMaster product viewer). Junox only runs inside those viewers after you allow them from the sidebar's Explain tab, and only to pass text you highlight to the Explain tab.

Developer option: use your own AI provider
🔒 When using Ollama, study content is sent to your configured local Ollama server.
Models are discovered from your Ollama install. Don't have one? See the README section "Ollama" (e.g. ollama pull llama3.2).
☁️ When using a cloud provider, extracted study content is transmitted to that provider for processing. Their privacy policy and pricing apply.
How is my API key protected?
- The key is stored in the extension's private storage on this computer, separate from other settings. It is never given to Canvas pages or to the extension's page script — only the background worker uses it, and only to call the address above.
- It is not encrypted at rest: anyone (or any malware) with access to your computer account could read it from Chrome's profile folder. Untick "Remember" to keep it in memory only until the browser closes.
- Safest option: use a spending-limited key, or run a small local proxy (e.g. LiteLLM) that holds the key, and choose "My local proxy" above. See README → Security.

Optional. Signing in connects this extension to your Junox account on junox.app, so Junox can show your plan here. Your study history, learning memory and preferences stay in this browser either way.
Learner Memory On
Junox can remember your learning preferences and progress across study sessions, in your account. What it remembers comes from what you study and practise, never from pasted page text; you can see, edit, pause or delete it any time.

- Never collected: passwords, cookies, session tokens, form answers, grades, inbox messages, or unrelated browsing.
- Before sending, the extension removes Canvas navigation and attempts to redact your name, email addresses, phone numbers and student IDs.
- Quiz/exam pages are detected and never analyzed automatically.
What Junox remembers
See the topics Junox has noticed from the questions you mark yourself, forget any of them, or turn this off. Stored only in this Chrome profile; removing Junox deletes it.
Cached copies make repeated lesson loads faster. Your Study History is managed separately.
